The Australian Museum

Centrally located, the Australian Museum is fine civic building that houses a collection started in the 1820s. There are stuffed marsupials, dinosaur skeletons and natural history displays plus an indigenous Australian collection that traces the aboriginal experience before and after the arrival of the colonies. On Tuesday evenings in Summer the museum opens its doors to the hipsters to down beers and shots while they listen to DJs, live music, expert talks, watch circus acts and various performances in front of the displays. A most unusual night out.
