Chinese New Year Festival

Every year Sydney bursts into displays of traditional red and gold as the city, especially in the area of China town in Haymarket gives itself over to Chinese New Year. 2013 is the year of the snake and around town there are twilight  parades, firework displays, Lion dancers, food fairs, cookery demonstrations, exhibits, performances, balls and much, much more. Festivities usually take place over a 3 month period according to the Chinese calendar and visitors flock for the fun from all over Asia. Various venues. Many events are free.
